Viet & Duc: The Twin Story Japan Still Remembers<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

An autumn afternoon in a small Hanoi caf\u00e9. Sunlight slanted lazily through the window, touching the wooden tables with a soft glow. The scent of morning rain lingered faintly, mingling with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.<\/p>\n

Nam stared out at the street before turning to Kitaro.
\n\u201cKitaro, do you remember the story of the conjoined twins, Viet and Duc?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kitaro nodded, his gaze drifting somewhere far away.
\n\u201cOf course. The historic separation surgery in 1988 at Tu Du Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. More than seventy doctors and nurses from Vietnam and Japan worked together. I still remember Japanese newspapers calling it \u2018a miracle of courage and humanity.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Nam\u2019s smile was quiet, almost like he was leafing through an old photo album in his mind.
\n\u201cAfter the operation, the older brother, Nguyen Viet, fell into a vegetative state and passed away in 2007. But the younger, Nguyen Duc, overcame every hardship to live a meaningful life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kitaro took a slow sip of his coffee and set the cup down gently.
\n\u201cI heard he\u2019s now a visiting lecturer at Hiroshima International University, and also a Peace Ambassador in Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d Nam said. \u201cHe even founded the non-profit \u2018Duc Nihon \u2013 For a Beautiful World\u2019 to connect cultures and support communities. He named his twin sons Fuji and Sakura \u2014 like a quiet promise of friendship between Vietnam and Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside, the last light of day spread across the street.
