It was a Sunday afternoon, the kind where the sun feels both distant and close.
\nNam had Kitaro riding pillion, weaving slowly through an old avenue lined with trees whose shadows stretched lazily across the road. The low hum of the bike merged with the faint toll of a church bell somewhere far away, forming a tune that wasn\u2019t really a tune.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is it. Vietnam \u2013 Japan University.\u201d
\nThey stopped. Kitaro narrowed his eyes against the light, taking in the white buildings framed by deep green. The air here felt different\u2014softer, as if the city had taken a step back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know,\u201d Kitaro said, smiling. \u201cFounded in 2014 by the governments of Vietnam and Japan. To train people who can stand with one foot in each culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

They walked in silence. Somewhere, behind a half-open window, coffee was brewing.
